Great Lakes Mushroom Company is a family-owned mushroom farm, apothecary, kitchen, and specialty wellness company based in Norton Shores, Michigan.

Founded in 2020, our mission has always been simple: Help people discover how incredible mushrooms really are!

What started with a passion for growing gourmet and medicinal mushrooms has grown into a full line of mushroom-based foods, functional products, grow kits, educational workshops, and locally made wellness products.

We don't just sell mushrooms.

We grow them. We cook with them. We teach people how to grow them. And we turn them into products people can actually use every day.

One of our biggest goals is making functional mushrooms easy to incorporate into everyday life.

That's why we created products like our Royal, Majestic, and Monarch Mushroom Coffee Blends — functional mushroom coffees designed to deliver the benefits of mushrooms while still tasting like great coffee.

We also create functional teas, dual-extracted tinctures, mushroom seasonings, and other products designed for people who want an easier way to make mushrooms part of their routine.

Sustainability Is Part of the Mission

Mushrooms have an incredible ability to turn materials that would otherwise be considered waste into food.

That idea is at the heart of our company.

We believe agriculture should become more sustainable, more local, and less wasteful.

Our work focuses on mushroom cultivation, agricultural upcycling, composting, local food production, and teaching people how they can grow more of their own food.

For us, sustainability isn't a marketing phrase.

It's part of how mushrooms work — and part of how we believe businesses should work too.

Education Is One of Our Biggest Passions

Great Lakes Mushroom Company is also an education company.

We partner with organizations and conservation districts throughout Michigan to provide hands-on mushroom workshops covering everything from beginner cultivation to advanced lab techniques, mushroom products, cooking, herbs, microgreens, foraging, and composting.

Our workshops are designed to remove the mystery surrounding mushrooms.

We want people to understand how mushrooms grow, how they can be used, and how surprisingly accessible mushroom cultivation can be.

Whether you're growing your very first mushroom kit or learning how to clone mushrooms in a lab, we believe education should be hands-on, approachable, and fun.

We Believe Mushrooms Belong on the Dinner Table Too

Mushrooms aren't only supplements.

They're food.

Through our kitchen, we've introduced customers to creative mushroom dishes including gourmet mushroom pizzas, deep-fried oyster mushrooms, mushroom smash burgers, soups, salads, and other specialty foods.

Sometimes the easiest way to convince someone that mushrooms are amazing is simply to cook them something unforgettable.
